We played a key role in the Jisc Library Management Systems (LMS) Change project, which developed and disseminated a vision for the future of university library systems. The project also set out a delivery roadmap for that vision.
Together with lead partner University of Westminster, we explored the potential for new approaches to library systems infrastructure, taking account of wider business critical and curatorial systems, both within and above campus. The project worked with a Collaboration Group made up of representatives from seven universities, who also provided case study material.
The project produced a synthesis and scoping report but also went on to produce a practical guidance and support website for university staff covering aspects such as:
- checklists to help with development strategies
- landscape reviews covering global technology trends, the Higher Education landscape and the academic library function
- examples of what other universities are doing both in the UK and overseas
- practical tools for analysing and addressing development requirements
