Owen Stephens has been working in library and IT services in the Higher Education sector for over 15 years. Owen has been on the library management teams at two leading UK Universities (Royal Holloway, University of London and Imperial College, London), and combines a strong technical background with experience of service delivery and strategic planning.
He has been responsible for a number of innovative projects at both institutional and national levels ranging from implementing various Library Systems to serving as Project Director for the EThOSNet project to launch a national e-theses service based at the British Library. Amongst other roles, he is currently the Technical Authority and User Functionality lead for the JISC Collections Knowledge Base+ service.
Owen’s background as a Systems Librarian and in managing a range of IT-based projects means that he has a wide range of experience developing and implementing software in libraries. This experience encompasses major library systems based on both MySQL and Oracle database systems as well as writing original software.
